ESS, the Defence, Government Services, Offshore & Remote sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland, has won the Future Maritime Support Programme (FMSP) Soft FM contract for HMNB Clyde – the Royal Navy’s main presence in Scotland.
Commencing on 1st October 2021, the five-year contract will see ESS deliver services ranging from catering, retail and leisure through to waste, cleaning, and laundry to the prestigious establishment, which is home to the core of the Submarine Service, including the nation’s nuclear deterrent. ESS will welcome around 350 transferring employees to its workforce on this date.
The contract will be delivered by ESS Defence, which already supports over 250 military establishments across the UK, from Cornwall to the north of Scotland. These include operational, headquarters and training environments in partnership with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation and other industry partners.
As an ISO 44001 certified organisation, ESS has recognised systems and processes in place for collaboration and will work closely with other HMNB Clyde stakeholders to ensure a ‘one team’ approach to service delivery. The company will draw on its established ways of working, as well as introducing innovation, to improve the lived experience for the whole Armed Forces community at this complex and important site.
Commodore Donald Doull CBE ADC, Naval Base Commander Clyde, commented: "I am delighted to welcome ESS to the community of delivery partners here at HMNB Clyde, where they have been awarded the contract to deliver Soft FM services for the next five years. The success of the Naval Base is built on high operating standards and close working relationships between all of our partners and I look forward to seeing ESS become an integral part of our team and its joint success."
Mark Webster, Managing Director – ESS Defence, Government Services, Offshore & Remote, commented: "We are absolutely delighted to secure the FMSP Soft FM contract at HMNB Clyde. We will deliver a tailored, high quality food and support services solution for thousands of military personnel, civil servants and the wider defence community on site. These are exciting times and we are looking forward to working closely with the FMSP team, with whom we have built a very successful relationship. It is an honour and a privilege to play our part in supporting the nation’s forces."
