ESS is proud to have supported its Government Services and Defence clients during the lead up to and throughout the Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla, providing over 150,000 meals to customers who had key roles in the event.
On the day of the Coronation, ESS supported the Metropolitan Police during what Met Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan described as ‘the largest one-day mobilisation of officers seen in decades with just over 11,500 officers on duty’.
Catering for the operation was actually provided 24/7 from the Tuesday preceding the Coronation and ESS prepared and served over 30,000 meals to Met and visiting officers throughout the week. Services were delivered from eight feeding locations and a further five refreshment stations.
The ESS culinary team worked with the company’s nutritionists to develop packed meals which would keep officers fuller for longer. Those in fixed locations were provided with self-heating meals that could be eaten at any time during their shift.
The Government Services team also supported other key clients during the celebrations.
In its Defence business, ESS provided extensive support to military personnel rehearsing for the Coronation procession in the weeks prior to the event.
This included preparing and serving over 110,0000 meals to Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel rehearsing at HMS Excellent, HMS Collingwood and HMS Sultan and UK and Commonwealth troops rehearsing at Longmoor and Brunswick camps, with representatives from New Zealand, Malaysia, Malta, Ghana, Canada and Singapore in attendance.
Colleagues from across ESS joined forces to deliver for the event and were delighted to play their part in this important moment in British history.
