CLEANING SERVICES

CLEAN, SAFE ENVIRONMENTS FOR CLIENTS, CUSTOMERS AND COLLEAGUES

Great cleaning services have always been crucial to the effective running of society, keeping people safe in their workplaces and public spaces. Following the pandemic, these services are now receiving the profile and focus they deserve.

Our clients trust us to clean over 21 million square metres every week – that’s almost 4,000 football pitches! From medical standard cleaning to North Sea offshore platforms or secure offices, we have it covered.

a+ CLEANING PROGRAMME

Our a+ cleaning programme has been developed to deliver high quality, efficient cleaning.

It incorporates a wide range of core cleaning tasks designed for domestic, accommodation, clinical, office, industrial, manufacturing, laboratory and pharmaceutical settings.

Specialist services available include external windows, high level, kitchen deep cleans, hazardous, infection control and forensic cleans.

SUSTAINABLE TECHNIQUES

We are always looking for new ways to minimise the climate impact of our cleaning services.

We’ve greatly reduced our reliance on chemicals and introduced chemical free cleaning in all sites across our estate. In areas where chemicals are required, we use techniques including automated dosing and ultra-concentrated pouches to decrease the quantity of chemicals and packaging used.

Our cleaners have used microfibre for over a decade, and we’ve invested in the latest cloths and mops which can be used up to 600 times instead of the previous 300, meaning fewer raw materials are used.

We utilise sustainable consumables too. Bulk-filled hand soap dispensers, coreless toilet rolls and single sheet towel and toilet roll dispensers are all introduced in collaboration with our clients.

INVESTMENT IN INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

We implement technology strategically where it will deliver benefits including safety, quality, colleague experience, efficiency and sustainability.

We’ve introduced cobots to work in partnership with our people. While the machines complete repetitive, often physically strenuous tasks, such as cleaning or vacuuming large floor areas, our frontline teams focus on more detailed, intricate work.

Cleaning is a physically demanding job, but increasingly equipment options are available that make life easier and safer for our frontline teams. We’ve introduced items including lightweight backpack tools, wide upright vacuums and i-Mops.

To further increase service quality and efficiency, we’re investing in sensor technology. Digitally measuring variables like footfall, consumables and waste levels enables us to quickly deploy our people to where they are needed.

INDUSTRY LEADING TRAINING

Delivering first class cleaning and FM services and providing our teams with great places to work and develop requires a sharp focus on employee training and development.

We take a blended approach to colleague training using a mixture of in-person, e-learning and on-the-job courses, as well as supplier-delivered sessions. Before individuals are left alone to complete a task, competency in all elements is checked and signed off by a supervisor.

We’re committed to supporting career progression and have numerous examples of people who have progressed from frontline to leadership roles within FM. We offer a variety of apprenticeships, from entry to post graduate level, and colleagues can target specific development routes through our Career Pathways programme.

TRIED AND TESTED CLEANING METHODOLOGIES

Our a+ cleaning programme is based on our experience of delivering a diverse range of cleaning services for our clients, wider insight from across the Compass business and our partnerships with expert suppliers to the industry.

We’ve developed best practice operating procedures, aligned to BICSc standards, for every cleaning task we undertake. These are grouped together to create a series of end-to-end processes that define our approach to cleaning in all different areas, from accommodation blocks and offices to manufacturing facilities and medical centres.

We carefully analyse the requirements for each site where we operate and use our extensive time and motion data to assign the right people, in the right places at the right times.

COMMITTED TO QUALITY ASSURANCE AND TRANSPARENCY

We check the quality of our cleaning on an ongoing basis and use this information to enhance our delivery.

We use the Origami Risk app to complete random audits of our work and collate the information to identify trends and develop action plans.

We’re committed to sharing this information with our clients too. Origami can be synched with client MI systems to ensure a smooth and regular flow of information and support full transparency.

Our teams are experienced in working with our clients to develop compliant approaches to auditing in highly secure environments.

SMART SPEND

We remain cost conscious through every step of our programme, while focusing on customer service and quality of work.

Our cleaning and FM experts undertake extensive work to ensure we invest in the best tools and equipment and deploy our teams in the most effective way to maximise efficiency.

We work closely with leading global brands who are the experts in their field, giving us access to innovation that enhances all aspects of our cleaning services, from safety, quality and productivity gains through to minimising our environmental impact.
